The collaboration between Grupo Iñesta and the University of Alicante allows the student Juan Jose Berná to complete the Final Degree Project in our facilities.
Grupo Iñesta is developing a specific product to treat the infection of Phyto-parasite nematodes in horticultural crops, which affect natural and cultivated lands. These parasites (Meloidogyne spp.) Are a plague around the world and are considered the most damaging within their species, for its drastic pathogenic action on the plants in which they are staying as well as for the lack of products in the market for fighting them.
The phytoparasitic nematodes have a filiform appearance, lack of extremities and a translucent color. At the same time, they don’t have a circulatory and / or respiratory system, which complicates the fight against their onset. Its way of acting is through the penetration in the root of the plants, from which they feed, destabilizing their structure and development. All this ends up translating into a marked reduction in the potential of the harvest and strong economic losses worldwide.
GRUPO IÑESTA IS COMMITTED TO INNOVATION IN AGRICULTURE
To deal with these parasites, Grupo Iñesta is researching and developing, through a project subsidized by European funds of the Center for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI), a specific product whose composition is based on plant extracts, bioactive substances and fungic ferments, that will get a solution to this pest without causing damage to horticultural crops.
As a result, the trainee student Juan José Berná of the University of Alicante made his stay at Grupo Iñesta and later his Final Degree Project entitled: “EVALUATION OF THE VEGETABLE RESPONSE TO BIOTHIC STRESS BY NEMATODES AFTER THE APPLICATION OF VEGETABLE EXTRACTS IN TOMATO ROOTS PRODUCED USING THE HAIRYROOT METHODOLOGY “.
